Womens Trends2Welcome to the first article in a three-part trend series. This post will cover women’s hats for the Autumn/Winter 2020 seasons.

A few months ago, we covered the Spring/Summer 2020 seasons. We always strive to stay ahead of the trends so you’re well prepared for what’s coming next.

There are three high-level trends this season.

The first style for the A/W ’20 season is full of comfortable pieces made of high-quality materials consumers can count on.

The next trend consists of technical and construction aspects including exterior construction details like exposed seams and taping.

The final style focuses on updating old classic elements to better meet the modern needs of consumers.

Over the next few weeks, we will discuss the season’s trends for men and youth, so check back weekly for updates.

But first – let’s look at women’s hats!

Womens TrendsWomen’s Hats: Sun and Style

For the Autumn/Winter ’20 seasons, you can expect to see a lot of berets, buckets, captain’s shapes, and dad hats.

In contrast to the light, airy styles you saw in our S/S 2020 series, thicker fabrics and materials like felt, velvet, and corduroy will be popular. We’re also expecting unique closures like clips and drawstrings.

Cold Weather

You will see a lot of oversized poms this season, as well as miniature colored poms. There are a lot of black and white patterns and heathered fabrics. Cable knits, heaving weaves, and teddy bear fleece are all prominent.

Country Boutique

This season, there will be large patches of all kinds. Embellishments take the form of fraying and heavy stitching. Cacti imagery, floral and animal prints, animal silhouettes and skulls will be common.

Outdoorsy

Sequins and metallic elements are popular in this market as well as geometric landscapes and whimsical mountains. Blue, mint, pink, coral, and berry are all significant colors.

Street Style

Dad hats and trucker caps prevail in this category. You’ll see a lot of aloha and paradise sentiments as well as floral prints, stripes, and jersey knits.

Womens Trends3Women’s Hats: Decoration Elements

You’re going to experience a lot of different stylings this season, including mutated camos, worn denim, tweed, reverse seams, pleating, marble looks, and nylon ripstop.

Graphics

As far as graphics and decoration, this season will be full of landscapes, retro-inspired designs, and positive messages. Graphics are often circular shaped and include wine pineapples, llamas, cranes, butterflies, rainbows, and more.

Prints and Patterns

Despite the season, you’re going to see a lot of warm weather elements like palm trees, florals, and cacti. Ethnic and Western inspired looks, as well as gingham check, tie-dye, animal prints, and camouflages will also be popular.

Trim and Details

We’re expecting to see embellishments that include various stitching techniques, die-cuts, taping, tonal details, reverse 3D and more.
