Outdoor Cap November Activities 2022

As we move from November, we still keep generosity and gratitude in our hearts. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and are looking forward to the rest of the Holidays. We at Outdoor Cap only exist because of the outstanding employees that come together every day excited about what they do and looking forward to making change for the better in the industry.

Town Halls

Town Halls have become a bi-annual occurrence here at Outdoor Cap. Our CEO, Jeanelle Harris, with a member of the officers' group and a department head, met with 15 employees from different departments over twelve sessions. They addressed what the employees enjoy, their challenges, ways the organization could improve, and serve as a sounding board for ideas or concerns that may not be making a natural progression through the organization.

These last sessions were well attended by 125 employees- about a quarter of our organization! It raised feedback awareness, and there was a resounding push for employee communication and ensuring communication resources are at everyone’s fingertips.

The leadership team reviewed all concerns brought up during the town halls and was pleased to see many issues brought up were already being addressed or part of a project in early 2023.

Trade Shows

Nathan Currier and our Team Sports sales group team traveled to two tradeshows in November.

In Boulder, Colorado, the Nation’s Best Sports (NBS) Show, we made some great connections with Discmania, Select Sports, and Sports Connection. We’re excited about   Discmania, as they are a lead name in disc golf. This pushes our plan to grow our OC Sports division, expanding to different sports. This is the first NBS show that has had both team dealers and hunting apparel, so we were able to speak to those customers there as well.

Next, we had Sports Inc in Las Vegas. 75% of our sales reps were able to attend and brought customers by the booth non-stop. There were many positive conversations. Andi Pratt was able to join us for her first Team Division show, and we were excited to have her.

Successful Employee Emergency Fund Cap Sale

Everyone participated in the Employee Emergency Fund (EE Fund) cap sale in November. We raised over $3000 as a collective result of our employees' generosity. The EE Fund exists to help support employees who have unanticipated occurrences creating a financial hardship, usually a medical situation of themself or a family member.

Salvation Army Magical Toy Drive

We were all in on the Salvation Army Magical Toy Drive this year. Our lobbies in the 1201 building and the JUNK building hosted public drop-off spots for donations of new unwrapped toys, and ten of our team members were able to participate in a $1000 shopping spree at our local Walmart for Outdoor Cap’s contribution to the cause. We also joined the title sponsor list. All this helped to make kids' holidays just a little brighter.

Commercial on FOX

We’ve launched our first commercial in some time, airing on our local NWA Fox Affiliate channel. It features some familiar faces and is a recruitment effort for our organization. If you haven’t seen it, check it out here. The OC family of brands is making efforts to bring more awareness to Outdoor Cap and JUNK as a wonderful place to call your work home, and this commercial and sponsorship are a part of that effort.
