OC News: February 2017

Walstreet Member of the Year

Outdoor Cap Company, Inc. received the WalStreet Award from the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce in Northwest Arkansas.

Outdoor Cap was recognized for its contribution to the Chamber’s annual charity golf tournaments, Women’s Conferences, and Leadership classes. WalStreet membership consists of frontline suppliers to Walmart, Sam’s Club, and third party suppliers.

The Walstreet Award was accepted by Outdoor Cap representative, Doug Keiser, Senior Vice President of Sales – Retail, during the Chamber’s annual reception at the John Q. Hammons event center in Rogers, Arkansas.

ASI Show Dallas

The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) hosts 3 regional trade shows each year: Orlando, Dallas, and Chicago.

The ASI Show Dallas was held February 1-3 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth to visit with us; we look forward to seeing you again in July at the Chicago Show!

Garren Goes Beast Mode

Garren Arthur works Monday-Thursday, second shift (3:30pm-2:00am) on our Domestic Embroidery team. He joined the Outdoor Cap family in July of 2016. It was clear very early in his training that he would be a rock star.

After a few months of high production, excellent quality, very few errors, and no safety concerns, Garren was given the opportunity to move from working 2 machines at a time to 3 using a triangle approach. He jumped at the chance to challenge himself.

Once again, Garren’s performance was well above par. On February 6th, he received an order for 1,050 caps; an order this size usually takes about 2.5 days to complete. Working over 100 pieces per hour, he finished the entire order in 1 shift. With only 9 errors, his order quality was .9%, well below the department average of 3.2%.

Outdoor Cap would like to recognize Garren and thank him for his continued commitment to safety, quality, and our company. Congratulations on a job well done.

Chili Cook-Off

On Friday, February 17th, the Employee Emergency (EE) Committee held our annual Chili Cook-Off. Each year, the cook-off raises money for the EE fund. With a minimum $3.00 donation, Outdoor Cap employees were able to chow down on the chili of their choosing.

This year, we had over 120 people participate and attend. Entries were sorted into 4 categories and 5 randomly selected judges taste-tested and judged each category accordingly. The winners were as follows:

  • Best Mild: David Wells
  • Best Spicy: Steven Jurgensmeyer
  • Best Deer: Jennifer Buffington
  • Best Other: Doug Keiser (BBQ Brisket)

Dozens of employees brought sides, desserts, hot dogs, etc. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who donated food, money, or time to Outdoor Cap families facing difficult times.

OC Sports Gears Up for Baseball

February begins the high season for OC Sports. With team dealers and league directors gearing up for the spring little league season, we’re hard at work getting orders for MLB replicas, MiLB replicas, and custom caps in the system and out the door.
