We’re Celebrating 40 Years!
In 1977, our founder, Paul Mahan, started a modest hat company out of his home. Sales Unlimited, as it was called in the early years, filled Paul’s house with a full truckload of product, often allowing only a small aisle to his bedroom.
With humble beginnings, Outdoor Cap has grown to over 300 employees and 3 locations nationwide, none of which include a personal residence.
In 2017, we’re proud to recognize our 40th year of business. We invite all of you who helped make our success a reality to help us celebrate this milestone.
January is a big month for trade show; representatives from Outdoor Cap attended 5 shows across the nation. Even Arkansas's Governor, Asa Hutchinson, stopped by our booth at the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show).

Team Member of the Quarter Award
Every 3 months, our Distribution Centers (DCs) elect a Team Member who went above and beyond for his or her teammates and customers. Winners are chosen based on adherence to safety initiatives, productivity, reliability, attendance, quality of work, and attitude.
The winners receive a gift card, framed certificate, an OC T-shirt, and their own street sign, which gets hung above an aisle in the DC. The 4th quarter winner for 2016 was Gary Lorenz.
On Friday, January 27th, we had our annual Kickoff Meeting at Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas. We started the morning off at 7:15 with a breakfast catered by Copeland’s and began the meeting at 8:00 with special guest introductions.
We were so lucky to host representatives from one of our overseas factory partners, as well as our own DCs in Dallas, TX and Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Also in attendance were Paul’s brother and several lifelong friends who helped make Outdoor Cap a success in the early days.
Each member of our Executive Team spoke on our 2016 accomplishments as well as our goals for 2017. Kyra Bedward was announced as our 2016 Sandy Award recipient. We watched videos on our 40-year history, and we had some laughs with our traditional Thank You Notes skit modeled after Jimmy Fallon.
With locations in Arkansas, California, and Texas, we currently employ 321 people, but that number is always changing. Check our all of our employment updates for the month including promotions, new hires, and even open positions.
We’re always working to help our team members grow in their current positions as well as advance to new roles and take on additional responsibilities. We’re proud to say 5 employees received promotions in January.
Jamie has been with Outdoor Cap for over 5 years in both Retail Sales Support and Product Development. She will soon be fully transitioned into her new role as a National Sales Manager.
Trevor started at Outdoor Cap in 2014 in our Product Development department. He will soon be transitioning across town to JUNK Brands as the new Product Manager.
Ashley has been with OC for over 6 years. She’s held several roles within our Custom group. Ashley will now help move us into the future by transitioning over to our IT department as a Business Analyst.
Mona has been with OC since 2002. We recently made the decision to combine 2 teams: Customer Care and Custom Sales. She will lead this new Customer Centric team as Director of Customer Service.
Anna started at Outdoor Cap in 2007 as a Customer Care Representative and promoted to a Team Lead in 2013. Now, she is moving up to the position of Customer Service Supervisor.
Outdoor Cap is constantly growing, and our team members very quickly become our family. Check out our newest additions for the month of January.
Hannah joins us with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. She most recently worked for Sam’s Club as an Associate Buyer of women’s accessories. She will join the Product Development team as a Product Strategy Manager.
Kevin comes to us from Huntington Beach, CA. He has an accomplished background in headwear and apparel design for Billabong, Fox Racing, and Vans. Kevin will join the Product Design team as an Art Director.
Jess previously worked across town at our JUNK headquarters as a Customer Service Manager. Prior to that, she lived in Dublin, Ireland where she was a VP of Membership for the Women’s Network. Jess joins us as a Sample Specialist.
Abby worked at Outdoor Cap prior to moving out of state in 2015 as a Customer Care Representative. She has recently moved back to Arkansas, and we’re glad to have her back. This time she will be taking on the role of Sample Specialist.
