OC News: December 2016

Headwear for the Homeless

Each year, we donate knits and beanies to local groups that distribute them to homeless individuals and families. We’ve donated to this cause for six years.

This year we donated 3,000 cold-weather caps to seven NWA organizations. To learn how you can help any of these non-profits, click the links below.

Coat Drive

We held a coat drive from December 1st-13th at our Bentonville campus. With the help of our employees, we were able to collect 33 Coats and a pair of tennis shoes, because, why not? On Tuesday, the 14th, we dropped off the donations to the Salvation Army!

On Tuesday, December 13th, the Community Blood Center (CBC) of the Ozarks visited our Bentonville campus for a blood drive.

Our goal was 15 donors, and we surpassed it with 20 resulting in 15 pints of blood donated!

Rockin’ Christmas Luncheon

Our annual Christmas luncheon was held on Wednesday, December 15th from 11:00-1:00 in the warehouse on our Bentonville campus.

It’s important that we take the time to get together as a work family in a fun, relaxed atmosphere to bond and break up the day-to-day norms of work. We enjoy sharing a meal, laughter, high-fives, and memories with one another during the holiday season.

The theme for this year’s luncheon was Rock ‘n’ Roll. We had a traditional Christmas meal catered, complete with turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie.

We played games like Holiday Taboo and build structures with toothpicks and marshmallows. Additionally, there were dozens of prizes and gift cards raffled off.

We ended the afternoon with an Air Band Competition.

Five bands competed for a $500 cash prize. Three randomly selected judges assessed the bands on energy, rockability, and overall performance.

Ultimately, our esteemed judges, Devin Fatkin, Missy Franco, and Camren Williams, selected Santa & The Kramps as the winner. The line-up was as follows:

  • Christmas Cash Carolers: Santa Baby
    • Jerry Berry, Donna Russo, & Trey Tipling
  • ZZ Caps: Gimme All Your Lovin’ by ZZ Top
    • Teri Goff, Jill Littrell, & Sandy Miller
  • Sarcastic Crocodile: Pen, Pineapple, Apple Pen by Pikotaro
    • Shan Gao, Will Pitney, & Rosaly Wilson
  • Santa & The Kramps: Immigrant Song by Demons & Wizards
    • Dustin Boyd, Will Cichy, & Grant Cottrell
  • The X-Ecutives: Why Can’t This Be Love by Van Halen
    • Paul Mahan (Vocals), Nicole Tillman (Drums), Peel Chronister (Lead Guitar), Jared Bowen, Jim Haworth, Ken Holden, Jerry House, Doug Keiser, Jeremy Laney, Ben Roberts, & Mia Standard

Beau Brosius to the Rescue

On Friday, December 16th, one of our carriers failed to pick up an urgent order of Championship hats. They needed to be delivered to Parkville, Missouri for the Bowl Game.

Our very own, Beau Brosius, loaded up the JUNK van and delivered the caps to the Kansas City area on time and intact!
