OC News: April 2017

Our founder: Paul Mahan, CEO: Jim Haworth, and COO: Nicole Tillman, all visited Bangladesh this month to check in on our factory operations.

Starting in 2011, we developed and funded a workplace literacy program for the factory workers. Right now, our 5th class is underway.

In each 9-month cycle, there are 25 students who attend 2 hours per day, 6 days per week. They learn to read and write in their local language as well as mathematics.

Nicole said about her experiences in Bangladesh, “The confidence I continue to witness from the classes and graduation ceremonies I attend are awe inspiring. These women’s lives were changing right before our eyes.”

Into the Light

Into the Light is a home for minor female survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. It provides refuge and restoration of the mind body and spirit to young women who have experienced indescribable trauma and tragedy.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security defines human trafficking as modern-day slavery involving the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act; or any commercial sex involving a person under 18.

Outdoor Cap is proud to partner with Into the Light. We have pledged $1,500 in donations for 2017; our first payment of $500 was made in April.
